"Have courage and be kind."

Have Courage and Be Kind. That line from Cinderella has quietly shaped how Komal Jain approaches both her life and her work as a psychologist.

Born and raised in Mumbai, Komal grew up in a joint family until her late teens, with the family business running from home, meaning she was always surrounded by people. A sincere, sports-loving kid with a Sudoku habit since age six, she describes herself as a jack of all trades, someone who's always made room for both purpose and mauj masti.

Academically, she was the science-and-maths girl who scored well without over-studying, someone whose younger self would never have guessed she'd end up a psychologist. That shift happened through pure curiosity.

Her five years studying psychology at the undergraduate and postgraduate level didn't just build her expertise, it also introduced her to her female tribe. She threw herself into leadership roles and meaningful events along the way, eventually building a career across therapy and training as a practising psychologist.

Komal's setbacks weren't singular, dramatic moments, they were a series of quiet unravelings: a sudden hospitalization that started as a simple stomach ache, aviation plans cancelled at the last minute, a failed paper, health scares, and exhaustion in roles she'd once prayed to be in.

What carried her through each one was something she'd learned from the last: she'd pulled herself out before, so she knew she could do it again.

She now passes on the lessons those experiences taught her: know when to walk away, healing can feel lonely before it feels lighter, and outgrowing people doesn’t make anyone a villain. Most importantly, she’s learned to speak more gently to herself.

Her parents and mentors remain her biggest influence, the steady presence behind every version of herself she's grown into.

Now running her own practice as a consulting psychologist, Komal Jain has built a work-life rhythm she genuinely values, crediting the freedom of private practice and her own skill at compartmentalising.

Her aspiration for the future is refreshingly simple: a peaceful, successful life, nothing more performative than that.

Her message, quietly powerful: be and become......
